Itzhak Perlman Warns Against Social Media Impersonations

The violinist drew attention to a scheme to solicit funds on social media using fake accounts

Violinist Itzhak Perlman recently wrote on social media, "It has come to my attention that someone has been impersonating me on Facebook, social media, or in a chat. They are sending messages requesting private chats and/or funds from members of my Facebook page.

"Please know that I will never solicit funds or send direct messages," he added. "Please do not succumb to this impersonator. Please do not respond to any direct messages you receive from me."

Perlman has 660,000 followers on Facebook page, 220,000 followers on Instagram, and 46,100 on X, previously Twitter.

He is not the only classical music star to have people impersonate him on social media, including violinist David Garrett.
