Santa Cecilia Orchestra Appoints New Principal Guest Conductor

Czech conductor Jakub Hrusa will assume the role from the start of the 2021/22 season

The Grammy-nominated composer currently serves as Chief Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony and Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic

A graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, under the renowned Jiří Bĕlohlávek, Hrusa frequently guest-conducts major orchestras across the world, including past and upcoming appearances with the Vienna Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Symphony, Dresden Staatskapelle, Berlin Philharmonic, and Chicago Symphony.

He has conducted the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia every season since 2016.

In the new three-year position, he will lead three productions per season, some special projects, and a national or international tour. This coming season, he will conduct the season's opening and closing concerts.

"Hrusa is among the conductors most acclaimed at the moment, well known to Roman audiences and to music critics for his superb interpretation," the orchestra's website reaeds.
