Guinness World Record Announces “Youngest Solo Artist to Release an Album”
Japanese Singer Jalimpa released her debut album “Nonsense Makes Sense” at almost 3 years old
Born in 2021 and raised on Japan’s Suo-Oshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea, Lynn “Jalimpa” Takei has become the youngest recorded singer-songwriter in history.
She has now been recognized by the Guinness World Records as “the youngest solo artist to release an album” for her album “Nonsense Makes Sense,” which she released on May 23, 2024, at the age of 2 years and 358 days.
Released on Apple Music, Amazon music, Spotify, and other global music platforms, Jalimpa’s 10-track album is the first ever to use prelinguistic vocal expression, or “cosmic language,” according to her YouTube channel.
In the midst of the Japanese Setonaikai National Park, Jalimpa’s country home is surrounded by the sea and forest. Growing up, she was influenced by the sounds of waves, insects, and birds.
Before really understanding the concepts of language or music, Jalimpa started singing melodies at just six months old.
At the age of one, Jalimpa would climb onto the tokonoma — a traditional Japanese alcove — and pretend it was her stage, dancing and singing in her own “mysterious babble known as ‘cosmic language.’”
“It seemed the collective unconscious of humanity, inherent in everyone at birth, was overflowing as song,” explained her parents, who soon started to record and support their daughter’s singing.
“Her best performance often came when she was away from the recording microphone,” they added. “The microphone had to chase her to capture it. We have a lot of instruments at home … and we give her access to any instruments she is interested in like the piano, the horn, the guitar, the Japanese traditional drums, the bells etc.”
“We value her curiosity and do not force her to do anything so that she can have her own natural childhood.”
“Just observe and let the kids do what they want to do,” Jalimpa’s parents said when asked for advice on nurturing children’s skills. “All kids have talent and let it flow out. Adults are the ones who limit kids’ potentials.”
Jalimpa has already begun to work on her next album and will continue her musical journey into the future.

“Jalimpa's primal cry as a living being resonates over electronica and techno beats, and as ‘'future world music’ it penetrates deeply into the subconscious of those of us who are swamped with work and tired of capitalism and the competitive society we live in,” said Shunsuke Sena, the album’s Music Producer. “This album awakens us to our true nature as ‘humans,’ providing us with time to face our true selves. The future of music is here, created by the free-spirited spirit of the youngest singer-songwriter in human history.”
“I was fascinated by the worldview of Jalimpa’s singing voice, like that of a resident of a barrier who can freely travel between past, present and future lives, and I tried to express this visually in a way that would bring me closer to that,” added Shiori Takei, Creative Director of the album. “Jalimpa’s expression, which is supremely pure as a living being, contains a great deal of hidden energy of the “invisible,” and I feel that it runs through our bodies in this modern age, where we are losing our sense of balance in life, and helps us to recover feelings and even connections with ourselves that we have neglected. I feel that beyond that freedom there is a world where we can cherish more universal things.”
