Ji Yoon Lee Awarded 1st Prize at London's Windsor Festival Competition
22 year old South Korean violinist Ji Yoon Lee has today been awarded 1st prize at the 2015 Windsor Festival International String Competition, in London.
2nd prize was awarded to 19 year old violist Timothy Ridout from the United Kingdom – and 3rd prize to 24 year old violinist Elina Buksha from Latvia.
A student of Professor Kolja Blacher at the Academy of Music Hans Eisler, in Berlin, Ji-Yoon is a former prize winner at the David Oistrakh, Leopold Bellan, Lisbon, Wieniawski, Neilsen and Sarasate International Violin Competitions.
Lee will receive a £5,000 (US $7500) cash award, a fine contemporary bow from Bishop Instruments and Bows, a solo recording on the Champs Hill label - and a solo performance engagement with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
