Kirill Troussov Appointed to Faculty at the University of Music and Theatre Munich
The violinist will begin accepting students from October 2025
Germany's University of Music and Theatre Munich (HMTM) announced that violinist Kirill Troussov has joined its faculty as a professor of violin. He will step into the role on October 1, 2025, and will be accepting students for the 2025/26 academic year.
"It is a great honor for me to become part of this prestigious music academy, where tradition and innovation go hand in hand," Troussov said. "Teaching is my great passion. I look forward to inspiring and supporting the students on their professional path."
An experienced pedagogue, Troussov has regularly been invited to give masterclasses at the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Colburn School, European Music Institute Vienna, and the Beijing and Nanjing Central Conservatories.
He also holds a number of positions at international competitions, academies, and music festivals, including the Sarasate and Engers Academies, the Schoenfeld, Ysaye, Carl Flesch, and Hong Kong violin competitions, and the Kaposvar and Ammerseerenade music festivals.
Troussov was discovered by Yehudi Menuhin at an early age, and has since performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Staatskapelle Berlin, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National de France, Radio Orchestra of Hessischer Rundfunk, Radio Symphony Orchestra of Baden-Baden, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, and Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.
Troussov is himself a graduate of HMTM, where he completed his master's degree with Christoph Poppen. His other major teacher at the conservatories in Lübeck and Cologne was Zakhar Bron.
For those hoping to study with Troussov, there is a separate application process for his violin classes. The deadline for this pre-registration is June 15, 2025, and the details can be found here.
