Konzerthaus Berlin Names New Director

Tobias Rempe will step into the role in 2025

The Konzerthaus Berlin has named Tobias Rempe as its new Director. He will step into the position in the summer of 2025 — at which time he will take over the house from Sebastian Nordmann, who has been Director since 2009. Nordmann has recently been named as Director of the Lucerne Festival.

Originally a violinist, Tobias Rempe co-founded Ensemble Resonanz while still a student, and remained as a playing member of the ensemble until 2007. He took over the ensemble's management the next year, having decided to move into artistic administration.

While managing the group, Rempe developed their Urban String concert series, relocated the ensemble to the Medienbunker in St. Pauli (part of which was converted into the resonanzraum in 2014), established the ensemble’s residency at the Elbphilharmonie, and launched the platform resonanz.digital in 2019. He also created the ensemble’s own label, resonanzraum records.

Rempe's appointment at the Konzerthaus is subject to the confirmation of the Berlin Senate.
