Milan's La Scala Opera House Set To Re-Open Post-Lockdown

La Scala Opera House in Milan has announced that it will reopen to live audiences - effective from the 6th of July

La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy has this week announced that it will reopen to live audiences - effective from the 6th of July, 2020.

The venue has been closed for more than 130 days due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I think for many music lovers, the time has come to return to hearing live music - even if the means are reduced,” La Scala General Manager Dominique Meyer has this week said.

At this stage, concerts have been scheduled for the 6th, 8th, 13th and the 15th of July - with conductor Riccardo ChaillyThe Scala Orchestra and soloists: baritone Luca Salsi, pianist Beatrice Rana and cellist Mischa Maisky.

In accordance with Italian social distancing regulations, only 600 of the 2000 seats will be be permitted to be filled.

Audience members' body temperature will also be measured through thermal scanners upon entry - and masks will be required to be worn at all times.
