London Philharmonic Orchestra Names Conducting Fellows for 2025/26
Nefeli Chadouli and Wilson Ng will work closely with LPO Principal Conductor Edward Gardner
The London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) has recently named the two early-career conductors who will serve as its Conducting Fellows for the 2025/26 season. They are Nefeli Chadouli from Greece and Wilson Ng from Hong Kong.
Established in 2023, the orchestra's fellowship program seeks to create conducting opportunities for those who are of backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the field. This includes minorities in terms of gender identity, race, socio-economic background, neurodiversity, disability, or special educational needs.
The two Fellows will get the opportunity to work closely with Edward Gardner, the LPO's Principal Conductor. Gardner will lead 1:1 mentoring sessions with each Fellow, and both conductors will get the opportunity to act as his assistants. The Fellows will also conduct the LPO in its regional and offsite programs, including the Rising Talent programs.
Presently, Nefeli Chadouli is an Associate Fellow of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship and Permanent Conductor at the Babylon Orchester Berlin, an ensemble that specializes in accompanying silent films. She has served as Assistant Conductor to Marin Alsop at concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker, as well as the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
Previously a guest solo flutist at the Lyon National Opera Ballet and the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Wilson Ng was recently appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Hankyung Arte Philharmonic. He was appointed Associate Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018 and has been a prizewinner in Mahler Competition, the Sir Georg Solti Competition, and the Svetlanov Competition.
"I am thrilled to see our new talent development program generating such remarkable enthusiasm within the music community," said Elena Dubinets, Artistic Director of the LPO. "Having received more than 200 applications from around the world, we have carefully selected two exceptionally talented early-career conductors through a rigorous audition and interview process involving the entire Orchestra. As they join us next season, we will immerse them in every facet of the Orchestra's work, providing invaluable opportunities for growth. We eagerly anticipate welcoming them into our musical family."
