London’s Philharmonia Orchestra Launches New Arts Management Training Program
Aimed for early-career professionals, the two-year program will offer industry insight and experience
The Philharmonia Orchestra’s Arts Management Training Scheme is aimed at giving trainees a comprehensive understanding of arts management in an orchestral setting.
Set to be delivered across four key departments (Concerts, Marketing & Communications, Learning & Engagement, and Development), the program will offer trainees the chance to learn on the job and receive one-to-one mentoring and professional development.
Across two years, successful applicants will complete four six-month rotations, each designed to build core skills, confidence, and knowledge of arts management in different areas of orchestral operations.
Early-career professionals, recent graduates seeking a career in the arts sector, or experienced individuals wishing to refocus and shift careers, are encouraged to apply.
A CV or experience is not required for selection — shortlisting will be based on applicants’ responses to four questions, of which the answers will be evaluated anonymously by representatives across the organization.
More details on how to apply can be found here.
“When starting out on a career in arts management, identifying the area best aligned with your skills and interests can be challenging,” said Philharmonia Orchestra CEO Thorben Dittes. “This scheme offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across four key areas of the orchestra’s operations, alongside bespoke guidance and mentoring.
“We are committed to making this opportunity accessible to all, and have therefore consciously moved away from traditional application processes to encourage greater inclusivity.”
