Lyon International Chamber Music Competition Announces Participants
22 quartets have been selected for the competition's pre-selection round, and fewer than 10 will proceed to the main competition
The Lyon International Chamber Music Competition (CIMCL) has recently named the 22 string quartets that will take part in its initial pre-selection round. Of these groups, fewer than 10 will be invited to take part in the main competition, which is set to take place in Lyon in April.
Players in the selected ensembles hail from 26 different nations across Europe, the USA, Canada, Korea, and China. Of the 88 players, 48 are women and 40 are men, and the average age is around 27.

The competition's prize pool will total €25,000, as well as a range of career development opportunities — including masterclasses, concert appearances, and attendance at the Villecroze music academy.
In 2024, the CIMCL jury will comprise Goran Končar, Kyril Zlotnikov, Luc-Marie Aguera, Marie Chilemme, and Mihaela Martin.
