Prizes Awarded at Germany’s 2019 Markneukirchen Cello Competition
23-year-old YeongKwang Lee from South Korea has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Markneukirchen International Cello Competition
23-year-old YeongKwang Lee from South Korea has today been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Markneukirchen International Cello Competition – in Markneukirchen, Germany.
A student of Troels Svane at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, YeongKwang is a former 1st prize winner at the Eum-Youn and Ewhakyunghang Competitions - and the Solist Cello Ensemble Competition.
He will receive €7,000, a BAM cello case, bow case - and a number of important performance opportunities.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 22-year-old Friedrich Thiele and 21-year-old Daniel Thorell.
The 2019 jury comprised: Maria Kliegel (Chair), Yi-Bing Chu, Danjulo Ishizaka, Zdzisław Łapiński, Csaba Onczay and Marko Ylönen.
