Missing Cellist Penka Petkova Found Safe
The 26-year-old cellist was missing between September 20 and September 27
Penka Petkova, the young London-based cellist who was missing for a whole week, has been found safe.
The alarm was sounded after Petkova failed to return home to her East London flat on September 20. Worried friends noted that her phone was switched off, and reported Petkova missing the next day, after she did not show up for a concert in which she was scheduled to perform.
A week-long search has eventually resulted in Petkova being located "safe and well," according to police. Once found, she was taken to the hospital, but no further update on her condition has been released to the public.
Originally from Bulgaria, Petkova works as a tutor at the Islington Media and Arts College, having previously been awarded a full scholarship to the Guildhall School.
"Thanks to those of you who shared our appeal for information about Penka Petkova who had been reported missing," wrote the Metropolitan Police in a statement. "We are pleased to let you know she has been found safe and well.”
“Penka Petkova has been found and taken to hospital," wrote composer Matt Geer on social media. "Thank you so much for all of the information and support everyone has given. It’s meant a lot!"
