Naxos Music Group Appoints New CEO
Music executive Matthias Lutzweiler will assume the role, effective immediately
Matthias Lutzweiler has now joined the Naxos Music Group as its new CEO following his role as Acting CEO of the company since October 2024.
In his new position, Lutzweiler will be supported by Jeffrey Lien, CEO of Naxos of America and Global Deputy CEO, and Iwen Schmees, who is CEO of Naxos Deutschland and Global Chief Operating Officer.
Founded in 1987, the Naxos Music Group now houses a catalogue of over 24,000 recorded albums, as well as three million tracks on Naxos Music Library.
Lutzweiler will continue developing the growth of Naxos Music Group as it focuses on key strategies such as investing in its catalogue, artist roster, and distribution networks, plus expanding into new markets and technologies by exploring opportunities in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America, as well as advancements in new products and supply chains.
More strategies will include strengthening relationships with artists, orchestras, and cultural institutions, and seeking new partnerships to expand its global reach.
Lutzweiler, who previously served as CEO of Naxos Germany, will also be joined by new members of senior management, who will be announced by Naxos in the coming weeks.
“We are delighted to appoint Matthias Lutzweiler as CEO of the Naxos Music Group. Matthias brings a wealth of experience, deep industry knowledge, and a proven track record of leadership within the Naxos organisation,” said Naxos Music Group’s board of directors in the press release.
“We are confident that this leadership team, which consists of experienced people from within the Naxos Music Group will uphold the values and vision that [our founder] Klaus Heymann instilled in Naxos, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth,” they added. “Together, we will continue to deliver exceptional value to our customers, partners, and the global classical music community.”
