NEW TO YOUTUBE | Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers Performs New Morten Lauridsen Arrangement
Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and pianist Fabio Bidini have recently released a recording of a track from Meyers' new album "Shining Night." The album features a wide range of music, including works by Corelli, Paganini, and Villa-Lobos.
The album's name derives from a choral work by Morten Lauridsen entitled "Sure on this Shining Night." At Meyers' request, Lauridsen made a violin-piano arrangement of the piece especially for her and pianist Fabio Bidini.
"It all started when I asked Morten Lauridsen if he had written any duos, and led to these arrangements, Sure on This Shining Night and Dirait-On," Anne Akiko Meyers wrote. "Shining Night is based on a poem by James Agee, and describes a man going on a walk and thinking back over his life."
You can order or stream Meyers' album "Shining Night" here. This week, The Violin Channel is also giving away five copies of the album signed by Meyers herself; you can enter to win one here.
