The concert was filmed in front of a live audience at Frankfurt's HR Sendesaal on December 17, 2021.

A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, where he studied with Ida KavafianJaime Laredo and Itzhak Perlman, Josef is a former prize winner at the Michael Hill, Kocian, Queen Elisabeth and Carl Nielsen International Violin Competitions.

Josef served as Concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra from 2011 to 2020 — leaving the post to pursue a solo career.

He appears with orchestras including the Orchestre de Paris, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, among others.

He recently announced his new trio, Trio Zimbalist, with cellist Timotheos Gavriilidis-Petrin and pianist George Xiaoyuan Fu — who are all distinguished alumni of the Curtis Institute of Music.
