New York City's 92nd Street Y has this week announced the launch of their 2018-19 concert season - including performances by violinists Gidon Kremer, Nicola Benedetti and VC Artist Stefan Jackiw, cellist Steven Isserlis, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Kremerata Baltica, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Zukerman Trio, the Horszowski Trio and the Danish, Bretano, Artemis, New York Philharmonic and Juilliard String Quartets.
“I feel extremely proud to launch a new season which engages deeply, not only with touchstones and rarities of the musical canon ranging from the 17th century to the 21st, but also with some of the crucial questions of humanity ...” 92nd Street Y Artistic Director Hanna Arie-Gaifman has told The Violin Channel.
“I am looking forward to welcoming a range of musical voices to 92Y ... and to sublime and daring performances by some of today’s most exciting instrumentalists, ensembles, and singers,” she has said.
The season will also feature the world premiere of the 92Y-commissioned opera 'Leonardo' by Jonathan Berger and the New York premiere of Wynton Marsalis’ new work for solo violin and Martin Bresnick's string quartet.
