New York's Kaufman Music Center to Host Community Fundraiser
The organization's "Day of Musical Action" on March 12 concludes with a finale concert streamed here on The Violin Channel
New York City’s Kaufman Music Center provides access to music without barriers, cultivating new generations of artists through its Special Music School, New York’s only K-12 public school prioritizing an intensive, immersive, and musically-focused education, as well as Lucy Moses School, Manhattan’s largest community performing arts school for children and adults of all ages.
On March 12, 2023, Kaufman Music Center will hold its largest community fundraiser of the year, the 2023 Day of Musical Action, to support these education programs. The day-long music marathon features more than 100 performances on stage at Kaufman's Merkin Hall.
Tune into The Violin Channel at 8 PM EST for a finale concert featuring a specially-curated selection of performances from the Day of Musical Action. The program will feature extraordinary young artists from Kaufman Music Center, including the Special Music School High School String Orchestra performing composer Jessie Montgomery’s “Starburst” and Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings,” and clarinetist Santiago Del Curto performing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major with orchestra. VC Artist Charles Yang and frequent collaborator pianist Peter Dugan will also join students for Shostakovich Duos and Albert Lavignac’s “Galop Marche.”
