New York’s Salon De Virtuosi Announces 2023/24 Season
The new season features performances by the VC Young Artist Merz Trio and VC Artist violinist Keila Wakao
Founded in 1989, the Salon De Virtuosi (SDV) provides support, encouragement, and performance opportunities to emerging classical musicians.
The organization’s Gala Awards Concert will be held on October 19, 2023, at 7:30 PM in the Merkin Concert Hall. Artists will include the Salon’s 2023 Career Grant Winners and renowned French pianist and 2020 Career Grant Winner Remi Geniet.
Streamed live here on The Violin Channel, the Gala concert will also feature harpist Renée Murphy, violinists Daniel Hodos and VC Artist Keila Wakao, the Ivalas Quartet, and VC Young Artist Merz Trio.
On November 15, 2023, the SDV’s “Autumn in New York” will be held at 7 PM at the Kosciuszko Foundation, featuring two 15-year-old artists — pianist Kayden Kelly and violinist and VC Artist Amaryn Olmeda, who won the 24th Sphinx Competition.
On December 14, 2023, SDV’s Holiday Concert will be held at a private residence, featuring emerging artists violinist James Birch and flutist Melody Shen.
SDV’s New Year’s Concert will be on January 24, 2024, at the Kosciuszko Foundation at 7 PM. Performers include pianist Hao Liu and violist Emad Zolfaghari, the recent grand prize winner of the Klein International String Competition.
On February 28, 2024, at 7 PM at the Chelsea Loft, SDV will present the world premiere of Zhou Tian’s Ode to Spring Prelude (2023), which was commissioned by SDV for pianist Claire Huangci. More performers will include pianist Juhee Lim and violinist Amelia Sze.
Three additional concerts are being planned — in May and June 2024, SDV plans to present its annual Musical Soul of Hungary concert in collaboration with the Consulate General of Hungary, plus its celebrated East Meets West and Summer Song from Japan concerts.
