Noah Bendix-Balgley and the Berlin Philharmonic's New Album, " Mozart – Sinigaglia"

Released on the Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings label, the album features works for violin and orchestra by Mozart and Sinigaglia

Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings has released a new album featuring violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley and the Berlin Philharmonic,

Titled Mozart – Sinigaglia, the album features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 1 in B flat major plus Leone Sinigaglia's Romance for Violin and Orchestra Op. 29 in A major and Rapsodia piemontese Op. 26 for Violin and Orchestra.

As a part of the Soloists of the Berliner Philharmoniker series, the series begins with First Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley. Born in North Carolina, he has won top prizes at the renowned Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and the Long-Thibaud Competition in Paris. He served as concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra before joining the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2014. He regularly appears as a soloist with the orchestra, including performances of Mozart’s First Violin Concerto on a tour of the United States.

Led by conductor Kirill Petrenko, the recording launches the new series in its 10th anniversary year, aiming to showcase Berlin orchestra members as soloists.

"I admit that Leone Sinigaglia was also unknown to me for a long time until I discovered his music — which definitely deserves to be performed more often. Prior to our performance, the Rapsodia piemontese had only been heard once in a concert by the Berliner Philharmoniker, in 1907, and the Romance, never. These are the first recordings of the two works," shared Noah. "...it was particularly meaningful to revive these forgotten works by Sinigaglia and to perform them in Berlin."

Founded in 1882, the Berlin Philharmonic is based in Berlin and is one of the most well-respected orchestras in the world. Kirill Petrenko has been chief conductor and artistic director of the Berliner Philharmoniker since the 2019/20 season.
