North Shore Chamber Music Festival Announces Scholarship Recipients

The Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund was created to celebrate the legacy of renowned violinist, teacher, and conductor Arkady Fomin

Created in 2015 by the North Shore Chamber Music Festival, the Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund (AFSF) awards educational scholarships to talented international college and pre-college musicians, mentoring their artistic development and supporting them in the most formative years of their lives.

The 2023 recipients include:

Violinist Ava Pakiam

Violinist Madison Lin

Violinist Emrik Revermann

Violinist Hina Khuong-Hu

Pianist Davide Cava

On April 30, Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund recipients pianist Davide Cava, and violinists Hina Khuong-Huu and Fiona Khuong-Huu will perform a program of Scarlatti, Liszt, Bartók, Ysaÿe, and Moszkowski. Tune in to The Violin Channel at 1 PM (ET) to watch!

The scholarship was founded in the name of violinist and longtime member of the Dallas Symphony, Arkady Fomin. He passed away in 2014, after serving as Artistic Director of the New Conservatory of Dallas and also the Conservatory Music in the Mountains Festival in Durango, Colorado, which he founded.

“Arkady knew how to give all of himself to his students, selflessly and wholeheartedly, his belief in the importance of music was inspiring and absolutely contagious. It is up to us to carry the torch that he has lit – and we do it with great pride,” violinist Vadim Gluzman said.

The award is made through a non-competitive process and applications are not accepted — although interested students are encouraged to send audio, video, or written material to inform the committee during the year. Candidates are vetted by an anonymous advisory committee that makes professional recommendations that closely align with the goals of the award.
