Novak Djokovic Pays Tribute to his Violin-Playing Daughter at Wimbledon

The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has introduced a new celebration into his repertoire at the 2024 edition of Wimbledon. Djokovic, who is currently ranked at No. 2 in the world, has begun lifting his racket to his shoulder and pretending to play it like a violin.
The gesture is in tribute to his six-year-old daughter, Tara, who has recently begun learning the violin, and Djokovic has used it in both his third and fourth-round victories over Alexei Popyrin and Holger Rune. He has currently made it through to the semi-finals, after Alex de Minaur withdrew due to injuries.
A number of tennis players have links to the violin, and vice versa. VC Young Artist Geneva Lewis has previously played at the national level and is the daughter of tennis player Chris Lewis — who in 1983 reached the final of Wimbledon as an unseeded player.
"That was for Tara," Djokovic said of his celebration in the post-match interview. "My daughter has been playing violin for some time already, six months, and we agreed that I would celebrate that way."
"Everyone has something of their own, I changed it, it depends on the moment and feelings, now I have a violin."
