Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Joins Arts Management Group Roster

After 52 years of operation, the renowned ensemble will be managed by Felipe Nieto and Timothy Mar

It has been announced that the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will join the roster of Bill Capone's Arts Management Group (AMG). Senior Artist Managers Felipe Nieto and Timothy Mar will be responsible for managing the ensemble.

Founded in 1972 by the cellist Julian Fifer, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra is a democratic ensemble with rotating leadership. Their central aim is to play orchestral repertoire as if it were chamber music, thus subverting the traditional power structures within a larger, conducted symphony orchestra.

Now based at Carnegie Hall, the group has made more than 70 recordings for labels including Deutsche Grammophon and Nonesuch. In addition, they are strongly committed to outreach: every year, the ensemble reaches nearly 2000 public school students across all five boroughs of New York City.

Other artists on AMG's roster include the Catalyst, Doric, Escher, and Schumann quartets, Imani Winds, Manhattan Chamber Players, Jupiter Ensemble, Alessio Bax, Vadim Gluzman, Benjamin Grosvenor, Louis Lortie, Mitsuko Uchida, and Joyce Yang, among others.

"We have long admired Orpheus for their unwavering commitment to both elevating classical music and what it can do, as well as elevating people — audiences, fellow musicians, colleagues, and partner organizations — through the power of music," said Bill Capone, the Managing Director of AMG. "It is with immense pride that we welcome Orpheus to Arts Management Group, and great enthusiasm that we begin our work together."

"For many years we have been collaborating with the amazing team of William Capone and his roster of exceptional soloists," said Alexander Scheirle, the Executive Director of Orpheus. "We know we will be in good hands with  Arts Management Group, and it is an honor for us to collaborate with AMG’s dynamic team to explore new territories and projects together."
