VC Artist Esther Yoo Plays Bruch and Barber
Released on Deutsche Grammophon, Yoo joins Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Korean-American violinist and VC Artist Esther Yoo recently released a new disc on Deutsche Grammophon (DG), covering violin concerti by Max Bruch and Samuel Barber. The album, on which she is accompanied by Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, is Yoo's fifth release on the renowned German label.
The album is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, and can be streamed here.
Born in the United States, Esther Yoo made her concerto debut when she was just eight years old. She was the youngest-ever winner of the Sibelius Competition and was also a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
In 2014, she was selected as a BBC New Generation Artist and she has also been named one of WQXR's twenty Artists to Watch.
Yoo released her debut album — a recording of concerti by Sibelius and Glazunov — on DG in 2016. Since that time she has also recorded the Tchaikovsky concerto, as well as two discs of chamber works with the Z.E.N. Ensemble.
In 2023, Yoo will make solo appearances with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra, among others.
