Fuga Libera has announced the release of French violinist Elsa Grether‘s new album: Masques – Sonatas for Violin and Piano.

Recorded with acclaimed French-American pianist David Lively, the disc features Prokofiev’s 1st and 2nd Violin and Piano Sonatas and Solo Violin Sonata – plus Heifetz’s legendary arrangements of Masques from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and March from Prokofiev’s The Love of Three Oranges.

“I love Prokofiev’s music … it expresses every possible human emotion … from the deepest sorrow and despair to vibrant and luminous lyricism … from nostalgic and tender poetry to biting, incisive and witty humour – with a huge communicative energy …” Elsa has told The Violin Channel

“I mostly hope that our love for this music will come through this recording and that the listeners will be moved by these works’ intense emotional power and depth,” she has said.
