Pavel Haas Quartet Signs with Kirshbaum Associates for North American Representation
The Pavel Haas Quartet has recently signed with New York's Kirshbaum Associates, who will represent the group in North America. The quartet is comprised of Veronika Jarůšková and Marek Zwiebel (violins), Luosha Fang (viola), and Peter Jarůšek (cello).
The Pavel Haas Quartet has regularly performed internationally, received five Gramophone awards, and were recently named in BBC Music Magazine's list of the top ten string quartets of all time.
They record exclusively for the Supraphon label, and in recent years have released discs focusing on the music of composers such as Shostakovich, Brahms, and Schubert. Additionally, their album releases have often foregrounded the works of Czech composers such as Smetana, Janáček, and Dvořák.
The group has recently announced that in September 2022, they will commence a three-year term as Artists-in-Residence at the Dvořák Prague Festival. As part of this role, they look forward to performing not only the complete Dvořák quartets, but all of the composer's other chamber works as well.
"The way they lean into every note is the same approach I take in my solo playing," said pianist Boris Giltburg, with whom the quartet recently recorded an album of works by Johannes Brahms.
"Very often you just have to find a way into how a quartet works and quickly put something together. With them it’s different; I feel very much part of the group. They’re just such warm and lovely people."
