Philadelphia Orchestra Announces Free Pride Celebration at Marian Anderson Hall
The orchestra's third annual Pride celebration will be hosted by drag queen Sapphira Cristál
The Philadelphia Orchestra is set to host its third annual Pride Concert, as part of a set of three community concerts taking place in June 2024. The event will take place in Marian Anderson Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 PM (ET).
The concert will be hosted by Sapphira Cristál, a drag queen who was recently named runner-up and Miss Congeniality on RuPaul's Drag Race. Alongside her drag career, Cristál is also a classically trained singer. Her co-host is Marin Alsop, the Philadelphia Orchestra's Music Director Designate.
The orchestra will be joined by the ANNA Crusis Feminist Choir, Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus, and Philadelphia Voices of Pride for a program of works by queer composers — including Bernstein, Copland, Tchaikovsky, Higdon, and more.
The concert is free, but tickets will be required upon entry. Concertgoers can register for tickets here from June 6, 2024. The seating will be general admission and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alongside the Pride celebration, the Philadelphia Orchestra will also offer two other community concerts: Our City, Your Orchestra Live at Temple Performing Arts Center, and a patriotic concert as part of the free Party on the Plaza and the Wawa Welcome America festival.
