Philadelphia Orchestra Cancels California Tour
The orchestra recently announced the cancellation of a four-concert tour scheduled for next March
After canceling a three-week tour of China scheduled for May 2023, The Philadelphia Orchestra has canceled another upcoming series of concerts at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles; the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa; the Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara; and the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.
According to an orchestra spokesperson, the reason for canceling was due to “logistical challenges” and “recent significant increases in cargo and travel costs." The concerts were “no longer financially viable,” they continued.
Pianist Haochen Zhang was to be featured in the concert as soloist, with Principal Guest Conductor Nathalie Stutzmann on the podium.
"We are looking forward to our upcoming tours and to rescheduling the California trip,” the spokesperson added.
