Philharmonie Luxembourg Names Artists in Focus for 2025/26 Season
Kit Armstrong and Renaud Capuçon will appear in a range of concerts across the season
The Philharmonie Luxembourg has named pianist Kit Armstrong and violinist Renaud Capuçon as its Artists in Focus for the upcoming 2025/26 season. Both players will appear in multiple concerts across the season, in various venues.
Armstrong begins his time in the role with a concert in Trier's St. Paulus Kirche, in which he performs keyboard concertos by Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. This is followed by a jazz/classical improvisation concert in which Armstrong appears alongside fellow pianist Michael Wollny.
In January 2026, Armstrong presents a program of piano quartet repertoire alongside Noah Bendix-Balgley (violin), Amihai Grosz (viola), and Anastasia Kobekina (cello). His final concert of the season sees him perform on both piano and organ, in a set of works by Saint-Saëns, Sweelinck, and Widor.
French violinist Renaud Capuçon begins his time as Artist in Focus in a collaboration with Martha Argerich, comprising works by Schumann, Beethoven, and Franck.
In February, Capuçon returns to conduct the orchestra, and will collaborate with Julia Hagen in Schumann's Cello Concerto. Finally, he will lead cellist Kian Soltani and pianist Mao Fujita for Schubert's Piano Trio and Brahms's Piano Trio No. 1.
