Pianist and Pedagogue Constance Moore has Passed Away
Moore was a long time faculty member of the Pre-College division of The Juilliard School
Hailing from Wilmington, Delaware, Constance “Connie” Moore completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Louisville and studied piano with Lee Luvisi.
Notably, she taught at Juilliard Pre-College from 1994 and was a chair of its chamber music department from 1995. Prior to this, she was a member of the chamber music faculty at the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival.
As a performing artist, she was a former member of the Cincinnati Chamber Soloists and the Louisville Orchestra, where she performed many premieres and recorded contemporary music.
She also made regular solo and duo appearances at the National Gallery of Art, Merkin Hall in New York City, and at the Southbank Arts Centre in London.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Constance (Connie) Moore,” The Juilliard School posted on Facebook. “She touched the lives of so many, both at Juilliard and beyond ... A dedicated educator and accomplished pianist, she shaped countless young musicians with her passion for chamber music.
“Her legacy will live on through the students and colleagues she inspired,” the post added. “Our thoughts are with her family, friends, colleagues, students, and all whose lives she touched.”
Our condolences to Ms. Moore’s family, friends, students, and colleagues.
