Prior to recording, Beatrice and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta toured these concertos, receiving acclaim for their cohesive and expressive performances. For Beatrice, part of the genius of Bach’s music lies in the way it “transcends its era and the musical technologies of its time and still feels modern to listeners today.”
Bach's keyboard concertos were composed during his time in Leipzig, Germany, many of which are believed to have been adapted from earlier versions of another instrument. Serving as important examples of Baroque instrumental writing, they are also some of the earliest concertos written specifically for harpsichord, showcasing its potential as a solo instrument in an orchestral setting.
She describes the composer as “an important figure in my life … My piano studies began when I was very young and Bach was there from the very start.” At the age of nine, she played the F minor concerto BWV 1056 in her first public concert with orchestra. 20 years later, she and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta toured these four concertos before taking them into the recording studio.
