Pianist Bruce Liu Signs With KD Schmid
The Canadian pianist will receive general management from Jeongmin Kim and Enrico Fischer
Previously represented by the Liu Kotow agency in Hanover, Canadian pianist Bruce Liu has signed with German agency KD Schmid for general management.
The winner of the 18th Chopin Piano Competition (2021), Liu is set to make a number of high-profile debuts in the 2023/24 season, including with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and Paavo Järvi, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Santtu-Matias Rouvali, and the Warsaw Philharmonic and Andrey Boreyko.
Liu is an exclusive recording artist for the Deutsche Grammophon label and will release his much-anticipated first studio album, Waves, in November 2023. The disc will feature two centuries' worth of French keyboard music, covering composers such as Rameau, Ravel, and Alkan.
He has given recitals in locations such as Carnegie Hall, the Wiener Konzerthaus, and BOZAR Brussels.
"We are delighted to announce that Bruce Liu is joining us for general management," said Karen McDonald, KD Schmid's Managing Director. "Bruce is an exceptionally talented pianist with a charismatic personality and magnificent artistry."
"What struck us immediately was his mindful and reflective approach to repertoire, composers and himself as an artist," she continued. "He has enormous artistic potential, and it is a great pleasure to welcome him to KD SCHMID!"
"I am very excited to be part of the KD SCHMID family and work with such an exceptional team; really looking forward to our collaboration as we embark on this new journey together!" Liu said.
