Pianist Clare Longendyke’s Debut Album, “...of dreams unveiled”

Longendyke’s new album comprises works by Amy Williams, Anthony R. Green, and Claude Debussy

A soloist, chamber musician, and innovator, pianist Clare Longendyke recently released her independent debut album, titled “... of dreams unveiled.”

The release features commissioned works by Amy Williams (b. 1969) and Anthony R. Green (b.1984), with selections from Piano Preludes, Books I and II by Debussy.

Dedicated to sharing works by living composers alongside her favorite works from the past, Longendyke’s artistic mission is “to expand the concert stage by illuminating the dark corners of classical music’s past where the work of female composers and composers of color is too often shelved.”

Commissioned by Longendyke, this album features Williams’ Piano Portraits: Books I and II, which were composed between 2019 and 2020, and inspired by the influential pianists in the composer’s life.

Selections on the album from Piano Portraits include Yvar, Helena, and Ursula from Book I, plus Olga, Frieda, and Nils from Book II

Debussy’s works on the album are his La Cathédrale engloutie, Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l'air du soir, Voiles, Les collines d'Anacapri, La danse de Puck, and Des pas sur la neige from Préludes, Livre I, as well as Brouillards, Canope, La puerta del Vino, La terrasse des audiences du clair de lune, Hommage à S. Pickwick Esq. P.P.M.P.C, and Feux d'artifice from his Préludes, Livre II

More works include Green’s To Anacreon in the US (2019), which uses the American national anthem as its primary theme, and the newly-commissioned Fugue — suivant ‘Des pas sur la neige written in 2022.
