Pianist Daniil Trifonov Cancels Boston Recital due to COVID-19 Infection
The Celebrity Series of Boston at Symphony Hall was to host pianist Daniil Trifonov on February 4, 2022.
Unfortunately, after Trifonov tested positive for COVID-19, the in-person and live-streamed event had to be canceled. The venue has indicated that it will not be rescheduled this season.
Like many concert halls around the country, Symphony Hall and its season have been impacted by the ongoing pandemic. Its COVID-19 protocols call for all audience members to show either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter, and CDC-approved masks are required while inside.
Upcoming concerts in the Celebrity Series of Boston include an in-person and live-streamed recital with violinist Simone Porter on February 9, 2022, at 8 PM EST at Longy's Pickman Hall.
For those with tickets to tonight's events, however, you have the option to donate the full or partial value of your tickets, hold the value of your tickets on your account, or receive a refund.
“I’m so disappointed I will not be able to play this weekend, and look forward to returning to Boston in the future,” Trifonov writes.
A composer along with a world-renowned pianist, Trifonov is an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, winning a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Solo Album of 2018. Musical America’s 2019 Artist of the Year, Gramophone’s Artist of the Year in 2016, he won third Prize in Warsaw’s Chopin Competition, First Prize in Tel Aviv’s Rubinstein Competition, and both First Prize and Grand Prix in Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Competition. He performs regularly as a soloist with most of the world's top orchestras and served season-long tenure as 2019-20 Artist-in-Residence of the New York Philharmonic.
We wish him a speedy recovery!
