Pianist Seong-Jin Cho Signs to KD Schmid
The agency will expand its relationship with Cho to include representation in North and South America
The South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho has updated his contract with the agency KD Schmid to reflect an expanded relationship. Cho, who first signed with the agency five years ago, will now receive representation in both North and South America.
Cho's career first took off when he won First Prize at the 2015 edition of the Chopin International Competition in Warsaw. This initial success was followed by the signing of an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon in 2016.
He has appeared in venues and at festivals such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Musikverein Wien, Alte Oper Frankfurt, KKL Luzern, Sala Santa Cecilia, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Rudolfinum, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Festival International de Piano de la Roque d'Anthéron, and Verbier Festival.
In 2025, Cho is undertaking the large-scale project of recording the complete solo piano works of Maurice Ravel, in celebration of the composer's 150th anniversary. He will also give extensive performances of Ravel's works throughout Asia and Europe.
A further highlight of the current season is Cho's position as Artist in Residence with the Berlin Philharmonic, during which he will work with the orchestra on multiple projects across the season, including concerto performances, chamber music collaborations, a tour to the Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden, and in recital.
