Pianist Yuja Wang Withdraws from New York Philharmonic Concerts for Health Reasons
Wang was originally set to appear in concerts this month led by conductor Gustavo Dudamel
Pianist Yuja Wang has recently withdrawn her concert appearances with the New York Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel from March 13–16, 2025, at Lincoln Center due to undisclosed health issues.
Prior to the cancellation, Wang was to perform Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand and Gershwin’s Piano Concerto.
No substitute soloist was announced; instead, both these works have been replaced with others on the concert program.
The new program comprises Varèse’s Amériques; Gershwin’s An American in Paris; and Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, Prélude et Danse de Sémiramis (World Premiere), and Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2.
These concerts honoring the 150th anniversary of Ravel’s birth will also mark NY Phil’s Music Director Designate Gustavo Dudamel’s first time leading the ensemble this season.
Wang’s upcoming concerts include Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with The Cleveland Orchestra and conductor Franz Welser-Möst, which is currently scheduled to go ahead on March 22 and 23, 2025.
