Switzerland's Verbier Festival Announces Tabor Foundation Award
Pianists Giovanni Bertolazzi and Misi Boros share the award of CHF 10,000
Two young pianists have shared the Tabor Foundation Award at the 2022 Verbier Festival Academy. The prize, which carries a value of CHF 10,000, has this year been awarded to 24-year-old Italian Giovanni Bertolazzi and 19-year-old Hungarian Misi Boros.
Bertolazzi is a laureate of several competitions, and in 2021 received Second Prize (as well as five special prizes) at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. He released his first album, which focused on the music of Liszt, in April 2022.
Boros received international acclaim as a pianist from an early age, winning the 2011 Bela Bartók Youth Piano Competition when he was eight years old. His first album is a recording of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 with the Hungarian National Philharmonic.
"I'm immensely honored to have been awarded the Tabor Foundation Award assigned by the Verbier Festival Academy at Verbier Festival," wrote Bertolazzi on social media.
"I feel extremely privileged for what I've received in the past three weeks at Verbier Festival, surrounded by some of the most incredible artists and wonderful people. Thank you all!"
