Poland’s Karol Lipiński Violin Competition Announces 2024 Semi Finalists
The competition has selected 12 semi-finalists to compete in its second round
Open to violinists of all nationalities born between 1989 and 2005, Poland’s International Karol Lipiński Violin Competition is currently in its sixth edition and is presented by the Toruń Symphony Orchestra.
In all, 12 participants from across eight countries have qualified for the second stage of the competition. The 2024 semi-finalists are:
- Wonbeen Chung (South Korea)
- Sarah Jégou-Sageman (France)
- Lorenz Karls (Sweden)
- Sojeong Kim (South Korea)
- Maya Levy (Belgium)
- Carla Marrero Martínez (Spain)
- Sunjae Ok (South Korea)
- Audrey Park (U.S.A)
- Hanna Pozorska (Poland)
- Jakub Staszel (Poland)
- Jaewon Wee (South Korea)
- Siqi Yu (China)
These 12 candidates will perform on October 1, 2024, to be selected into the third and final rounds.
First prize will involve €15,000; second prize is €10,000; and third prize is valued at €6,000. The prize winners’ concert will be held on October 6.
Additionally, the competition will award three “Honorable Mention” prizes with €2,000 each, as well as over 20 special prizes including performance opportunities with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and at the 2025 Gdańsk Music Festival.
Chaired by Daniel Stabrawa, the 2024 jury will comprise Dainius Pavilionis, Jakub Jakowicz, Rūta Lipinaitytė, and Philip A. Draganov.
