Acclaimed Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki has passed away – age 86.
Throughout his seven decade career, he composer four operas, eight symphonies and a large body of orchestral pieces, instrumental concerts and chamber works.
Mr Penderecki’s was the recipient of four Grammy Awards – and the prestigious 1992 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition.
His best known works include ‘Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima‘, Symphony No. 3, his ‘St Luke Passion’, ‘Polish Requiem’, ‘Anaklasis’ and ‘Utrenja.’
