The Maine-based Portland String Quartet has this week announced that its long serving violist Julia Adams will retire from the ensemble - effective immediately.
An original member of the quartet, Julia as performed with the ensemble for the past 51 years.
“My decision has nothing to do with the pandemic, but it is making it easier ..." Julia has this week said.
"There is no final concert, where everybody says goodbye but I went out on a high note with the quartet ... I worked very hard to keep my playing as strong as possible, and our literature was extra difficult on that last concert in January - I am proud of that,” she has said.
