Presto Music to Raise Funds for Humanitarian Efforts in Ukraine
Presto Music, in collaboration with the record labels BIS, Chandos, Delphian, Hyperion, Naxos, and Toccata, have launched a new initiative to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
The company has curated a wide range of existing recordings by Ukrainian composers, spanning a time period from the eighteenth century to today. The record labels who are collaborating on the project have generously donated these CDs to Presto to be sold as a fundraising initiative. The labels will cover all royalties and copyrights themselves, while Presto will absorb the cost of shipping and packaging.
There, all proceeds from the record sales will be donated to the Red Cross's DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, with an initial target of £10,000 for the project.
"The dual opportunity to explore this largely neglected repertoire whilst raising much-needed money for this cause is one which we’re sure classical music fans worldwide will embrace," said Chris O'Reilly, Presto Music's Chief Executive.
"The chance for the classical recording industry to come together like this is our small way of doing what we can to raise funds for our friends in Ukraine," added Ralph Couzens, Managing Director at Chandos Records.
Some of the composers featured in the fundraiser include Dmytro Bortnyansky, Mykola Lysenko, Sergei Bortkiewicz, and Nikolai Roslavets. You can view the full list of available recordings, and make any purchases (in either CD or digital formats) here.
Presto has also launched a similar campaign in their Sheet Music department. You can browse through their selection of printed music by Ukrainian composers and help them reach the £10,000 target.
