Detroit Symphony Orchestra Announces New Principal Double Bassist

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has today announced 27 year old American bassist Kevin Brown as their new Principal Double Bass.
A student of Paul Ellison, at Rice University and David Moore, at the University of Southern California, Kevin has recently served as Guest Principal Bass with the Atlanta Symphony.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Detroit Symphony Orchestra,” Kevin has said, “… I feel very fortunate to have landed in a place where I feel at home musically, geographically and personally.”
He will replace Alexander Hanna who stepped down from the position in 2012 – to take up the Principal position with the Chicago Symphony.
