Prizewinners Announced at the International Classical Music Awards for 2024

String players featured prominently in the list of prizewinners and violinist Renaud Capuçon was named Artist of the Year

The Luxembourg-based International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) recently announced the list of musicians who have received awards for 2024. The 26 prizewinners were selected from a nomination list containing 375 applicants, with 15 labels represented.

French violinist Renaud Capuçon received the Artist of the Year award for the excellence of his artistry as well as his commitment to social causes. The piano duo of sisters Güher and Süher Pekinel received a lifetime achievement award for their contribution to presenting the piano duo repertoire to audiences.

In addition, soprano Aida Pascu was named Young Artist of the Year, violinist Lana Zorjan received the Discovery Award, Orazio Sciortino won the Composer Award, and guitarist Cassie Martin won the ICMA Classeek Award.

The winners will be given their ICMA trophies during the annual Award Ceremony, which is set to take place at the Palau de la Musica in València on April 12. The evening will also include a Gala Concert, featuring a number of prizewinners — as well as the Orquesta de València conducted by Alexander Liebreich.
