Spanish conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos has passed away from cancer in Pamplona, Spain – aged 80.

The sad news comes just days after Maestro his resignation as Chief Conductor from the Danish National Symphony Orchestra was announced – due to ongoing health issues.

Throughout his 60 year career, Maestro Frühbeck de Burgos has served Principal Conducting positions with the Rundfunkorchester Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra .
