Record Number of Applicants For 75th Geneva International Music Competition

Despite the ongoing pandemic, the competition saw a 70 percent increase in applicants this year


429 young musicians between the ages of 14 and 30 have applied for the 75th Geneva International Cello & Oboe Competition. The applicants come from 52 different countries.

A list of selected candidates will be announced on June 4, 2021.

The first round of the competition will be held online, and the semi-final and final rounds are planned to be held live in Geneva from October 23-29, 2021. Those who make it to the finals will have the opportunity to perform at the beautiful Victoria Hall with the Orchestra de la Suisse Romande.

The cello jury includes Ivan Monighetti, Thomas Demenga, Michaela Fukačová, Ophélie Gaillard, Qin Li-Wei, and Shauna Rolston.
