Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Announces Creative Partner
The Dutch orchestra's 2021-22 season will launch a three-year partnership with director Pierre Audi
Previously, Pierre Audi served as artistic director of the Dutch National Opera. He is currently appointed as general director of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and artistic director of New York’s Park Avenue Armory.
With the Concertgebouworkest, Audi will work on the performance of a newly commissioned work by composer Tan Dun. He will also take charge of a special program to be held in Gashouder, Amsterdam, with more information to be disclosed at a later date.
"I am looking forward to working closely with the Concertgebouworkest on exploring in the coming seasons' new accents in its programming," Mr. Audi said in a statement.
"This challenge is also a wonderful opportunity to work with composers, conductors, and the orchestra on continuing to explore the interaction of music with other art forms. Such initiatives are particularly relevant now, as we search for ways to highlight the importance of classical music to the new generations and to a wider section of society."
