British-born Australian conductor and administrator John Hopkins has died – aged 86

Maestro Hopkins served conducting positions with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Northern Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra - and served as Federal Director of Music of the Australian Broadcasting Commission and Dean of the Victorian College of Arts
