The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has today unveiled an innovative new initiative allowing audience members under the age of 18 free admission to all 2017/18 season concerts.
“My personal experience growing up in Edinburgh … the opportunities I had to hear the SCO, instilled in me a love of music and a determination to become a professional musician …” Orchestra Chief Executive Gavin Reid has told local media.
“I realise how incredibly important those opportunities were for me and so, with the hope of encouraging many more young people to hear the SCO and get the bug, I am delighted to say that from next season, all our tickets for under 18s will be completely free,” he has said.
Teachers accompanying pupils will also be permitted without fee, he has indicated.
