Semi-Finalists Announced at Voice Edition of Concours de Genève
The 78th Concours de Genève is dedicated to Voice & Composition and will be held from October 15-22, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland
Open to any singer born after October 22, 1992 (i.e. younger than 32 years old), the vocal edition of the 78th Concours de Genève has announced its 2024 semifinalists. Their online recitals can be watched here on The Violin Channel.
The eight singers that have been selected to participate in the semi-final are:
- Stefanie Bruggeling, Mezzo-Soprano, 26 years old
- Shelen Hughes, Soprano, 27 years old
- Junho Hwang , Tenor, 25 years old
- Jungrae Noah Kim, Baritone, 29 years old
- Franciana Nogues, Soprano, 23 years old
- Jaeeun Shin, Soprano, 29 years old
- Barbara Skora, Mezzo-Soprano, 25 years old
- Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh, Soprano, 28 years old
The live semi-final round will take place on October 15-18 in Geneva and comprise of three sections: an opera recital, a lieder recital, and a proposal for a personal artistic project. Those who progress to the final will perform with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
First Prize is valued at 20,000 CHF, while Second Prize is 12,000 CHF and Third Prize is 8,000 CHF. In 2024, the jury comprises Patricia Petibon (Chair), Aviel Cahn, André Comploi, Jean Denes, Sophie de Lint, and Waltraud Meier.
Founded in 1939, the Concours de Genève is one of the world’s leading international music competitions. More than 800 artists have passed through the competition over the course of its history. Each year two disciplines are offered in rotation, choosing from piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, cello, viola, string quartet, voice, percussion, and composition.
