Semyon Bychkov & Czech Phil's New Album, "Dvořák Symphonies Nos. 7, 8, 9"
Released on Pentatone, the album presents Dvořák’s Symphonies 7-9 and his concert overtures In Nature’s Realm, Carnival and Othello
The Czech Philharmonic and its Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov have released a new recording of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphonies 7, 8, and 9, along with the composer’s concert overtures In Nature’s Realm, Carnival and Othello. Released on Pentatone, the album is part of the 2024 Year of Czech Music.
Dvořák’s final three symphonies, 7-9, show the peak of his compositional power and international fame with a diverse range of styles and expression. His "From the New World" Symphony has been part of Conductor Semyon Bychkov's repertoire since the 1980s when he emigrated to the United States.
The three concert overtures, including In Nature’s Realm, Carnival, and Othello were published separately, although they were originally conceived as a trilogy of Nature, Life, and Love. The album presents core Czech repertoire and demonstrates the Czech Philharmonic's collaboration and understanding of Dvořák’s sound world.
