Singer Anna Netrebko Awarded $100,000 Swedish Music Prize

Russian soprano Anna Netrebko has been awarded the 2020 Swedish Polar Music Prize

It has been announced this week that superstar Russian soprano Anna Netrebko has been awarded the 2020 Swedish Polar Music Prize – in international recognition of her significant excellence in the field of music.

Presented annually since 1989 by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music to a contemporary musician and a classical musician, Anna will receive 1M Swedish Krona (US $103,000).

This prize was this year also awarded to American songwriter, Diane Warren.

Previous recipients include: Anne Sophie Mutter, Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, Kronos Quartet, Steve Reich, Valery Gergiev, Gyorgy Ligeti, Issac Stern, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Bjork, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Metallica, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
